Testimonials

Eva, Denmark

“Volunteering at OHS was a magical experience - the horses, the people, the food, the wildlife - it was perfect! I’m already dreaming of coming back.”

Sophie, France/Norway

What were your favourite memories?

“Too many. I love the first night when there was a leopard by the camp while we were having diner… I also really enjoyed the sundowners, the picnic and jumping some little things along the ride or galloping in the water!”

How would you sum up the experience to anyone thinking about doing it?

“I would say it’s unique. If you like wildlife, adventure and horses everything is there. Also it’s like a small village and this spirit of everyone used to and enjoying adventure was great. I love the shared diner, I was scared going on my own I would feel lonely but not at all as your either busy or with the staffs and/or clients.”

Scarlett, UK

During your time there, did you feel your time was structured enough? How was the balance of work/leisure time?

I loved the routine, it took a bit of getting used to with doing most the work in the morning and then having a siesta time, camp wasn’t very busy while I was there so there were some days that less stuff needed doing, especially if there was no long guest ride but we often did multiple short rides instead.”

What were your favourite memories?

“Definitely the riding, but I also loved sundowners and evenings in camp, really nice meeting guests from all over the world and hearing their stories.”

Sarah, France

“Thank you for the experience you allowed me to gain - it truly was the trip of a lifetime. I saw, lived and felt incredible emotions. Thank you for the opportunity, thank you for this amazing team, thank you for everything.”

Annika, Germany

What were your favourite memories?

“My favourite memory… that’s difficult, because I really enjoyed the entire time there. Especially the moments with the horses—whether while riding or in the evening when all the horses return to the stable. But also the quiet moments when you were simply sitting in the camp and suddenly animals appeared. The game drives were also major highlights, and I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to experience them.”

How would you sum up the experience to anyone thinking about doing it?

“All in all, it was an impressive two weeks and, for someone like me who had never been to Africa before, a completely new experience. The team was very warm and welcoming, and I felt included. The time with the horses was incredible—riding alongside giraffes or elephants. I can truly recommend it.”
